I've used this with my undergraduate students to not only inspire but to also 'raise the bar' so they understand that I have high expectations for them as pre-service teachers. We talk about how I can plan for and support their learning but that, ultimately, they are responsible (and will benefit) from their own efforts and results. They often revisit and refer to the 212 degrees clip in class conversations and in written reflections on their blog throughout the semester/year.
